Medieval battle gauntlets, Battle of Visby s. XIV available in several colors. These gauntlets are based on a find from the site of the Battle of Korsbetningen (Island of Gotland, Sweden), just outside the city walls of Visby, where an army of Gutnese farmers and peasants fighting against the conquest of Gotland was crushed by the Danes. by the forces of King Valdemar IV of Denmark (Valdemar Atterdag) on July 27, 1361.
The battle gauntlet we offer here as a pair is made from 2mm thick leather and 1.6mm steel. The upper leather features riveted metal plates that fully cover the back of the hand and all five fingers. It is riveted to an inner glove made of softer leather. The long, riveted leather bracelet is reinforced with oblong steel plates on the inside and is equipped with an adjustable leather strap and brass buckle for a comfortable, personalized fit on the wrist.
