The history of the shirt begins in the 1500 b.C., when the egyptians started to use the kalasiris, a rectangual piece of linen with a hole for the head.
In the Roman Empire, the roman shirt was made by a cloth with sleeves and it's name was "tunica exterior".
In the Middle Ages until the XIV century, the medieval shirt for man was a white cloth and it was used to protect the skin from the rough texile of the external clothes. It was considered as underwear and it didn't have any button. It was useful to cover the body from the tunic or the coat.
In the Renaissance, the use of the shirt was more usual. The italian trend of the epoch wanted elbow long and wider sleeves. In the XVI century has born the square neck.
