The hat and the cap are just some of the medieval accessories for the head. These accessories were used to protect from the sun, to protect oneself from the cold and air, and to keep from getting wet under the rain.

Keep in mind that the origin of the hat dates back to the Egyptian, Persian, Greek and Roman Empires. For example, the slaves of the Romans used the Cap of Liberty since they were the ones who put it on when they were released.

Accessories such as crespinas, capelinas or protectors were used to put under the medieval helmet, so that the head did not have direct contact with the steel of the helmet. Others, such as headdresses, were used only as accessories for a gala dress and to wear at parties.

Types of Medieval Hats and Caps

Let's make a list of accessories for the head, from different times:

The hat is a garment that serves to cover and shelter the head. They were worn by men and women of different social classes and remained a widely used garment to this day. Among them we want to mention the Renaissance hats, very colorful and used especially in Italy in the Florence area.

The hat is a garment that serves to cover, shelter and protect the face from the sun. It has a round base and a wing to protect it from the sun, it needs shade. This complement was used by many peoples around the world, Greeks, Asians, Europeans, South Americans, North Americans, Africans...

Almost all social classes wore the hat: peasants, cowboys (in America), wizards and witches, slaves and nobles. Today it is a garment that is not usually used by young people, but is more common among older people.

The protectors or padding are specially designed to be worn under battle helmets to protect and cushion the forceful blows they can receive. Protectors were also used under the executioners more then the padded protector under the helmet.

Materials used in hats

In ancient times, caps and hats used to be made from common materials, such as animal skins and cloth. Nobles might have access to finer fabrics, such as linen or silk. Today we have a wide variety of materials and the most used for the production of caps and hats are:

Cotton

Wool

Leather

polyester

synthetic hair

military caps and security forces

Caps with visors , in some Latin American countries such as Colombia called caps or jockeys in Chile, are the classic caps that are in fashion today and that people of all ages usually wear for their comfort and functionality.

Military and other security forces are also distinguished by wearing this type of cap with their badges.

In our catalog you will find many of these caps that we have compiled for you to enjoy by Spanish and American security forces.

Series as well known as Game of Thrones include visor caps with their own designs in their merchandising.

In our catalog you will find many of these caps that we have compiled for you to enjoy.
