German Rothenburg Bollock testicle dagger with scabbard, 15th century

Bollick of Rothenburg testicular dagger with scabbard. This kidney dagger or testicle dagger was used throughout Europe in the late Middle Ages.

The beautiful and elegant medieval dagger we offer here is based on an original from the late 15th century. example (ca. 1450-1480) of northern Italian origin belonging to the Baumann Foundation's weapons collection on display at the Rothenburg Museum in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany.

The blade is made of EN45 spring steel, has a diamond cross section and tapers evenly to a sharp point. The cutting edges are not sharp and the tang is threaded into the pommel. The distinctive lobed guard handle is carved from a single piece of wood and reinforced with aged brass fittings. It widens upwards to become a flat, intricate behind.

This knight's dagger comes complete with a carefully stitched, vegetable-tanned leather sheath fitted with a leather cord for attaching to a belt. The motifs and cut-outs that adorn the butt cap are repeated in the beautiful antique brass cape with button trim.

Please note that this late medieval dagger is not a battle ready weapon. It is designed as a collector's item or for decoration, display and is not suitable for combat reenactment. In addition to its quality as a collector's item, it also fits perfectly as an accessory, for example to complement your medieval costume.
