Testicular dagger with scabbard, 16th century. This kidney dagger or testicle dagger was used throughout Europe in the late Middle Ages. This beautiful and elegant reconstruction of a 16th century German dagger features an EN45 spring steel blade that has a diamond cross section and tapers evenly to a sharp point. The cutting edges are not sharp and the tang is bolted to the pommel. The distinctive lobed guard handle is carved from a single piece of wood and reinforced with antique brass fittings: a butt cap adorned with crosses and a downward-sloping guard plate equally ornate with ram's head finials.
This knight's dagger comes complete with a carefully stitched, vegetable-tanned leather sheath fitted with a leather cord for attaching to a belt. The cross and ram's head symbols that adorn the stock and skid plate are repeated on the beautiful aged brass cap.
Please note that this renaissance dagger is not a battle ready weapon. It is designed as a collector's item or for decoration, display and is not recommended for combat reenactment. In addition to its quality as a collector's item, it also fits perfectly as an accessory, for example, as a complement to your costume.
