Sword Viking island of Eigg, S. IX-X

Sword Viking of the Island of Eigg. Manufactured with sheet steel EN45, which gives it a greater hardness, resilience and more flexibility in your sheet. Saved, and the knob in cast bronze and decorated. The grip is covered in leather for a better grip. Includes sheath of wood covered in leather and with decorations on the tip. The steel used is not rust proof and may show a slight fogging of the surface in some places. We recommend that you do a maintenance once in a while of the blade and the sheath, for example, using oil-Ballistol, which is ideal for the care of the steel.

This beautiful sword viking is based on a hilt of bronze with inlays of silver excavated in 1830 on the Island of Eigg, Scotland. Although we also found some parts of the sheet, these no longer survive. The discovery original is on display in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. Dated in the NINTH century or early tenth century, this piece of finely wrought history, viking is classified as a Type D according to the typology of the sword viking from Petersen. As missing the sheet of the original piece, they chose one form nordic classic for this reconstruction, and this sword with a single hand presents some of the typical characteristics of a traditional sword of the Middle Ages
