Alpartaz galvanized rings and leather edge

An Alpartaz is a piece of metal mesh that, in the Middle Ages, was attached to the helmet to provide additional protection to the neck and shoulders. The preferred helmets included the nasal helmet, but especially the late medieval bacinet or one of its variants, such as the dog-nosed or pig-faced helmet.

This metal mesh espadrille features an authentic serrated edge and a thick leather strap sewn to the top. Fixing holes must be drilled into the leather by the customer.

This metal mesh is made with galvanized, round, joined rings. Galvanizing the surface of the rings provides protection against corrosion (rust). We call this type of mesh BMSZ (Butted Mild Steel Zinc-plated). The fabric is 4 in 1.
