Vendel Period Viking Functional Helmet. This Vendel helmet / Viking helmet is hand forged from high carbon steel and features the typical features of crested helmets of this period: a goggle guard (a protective plate that resembles goggles / goggles) and strips o metal bands - in German so -called Spangen - running from front to back and from ear to ear. The dome of the helmet, the bands and the face shield are all connected by steel rivets. The blackened interior is fitted with a leather suspension lining, also attached to the bowl with rivets, and the leather chin strap closes with a brass buckle.
