Sallet-type Gothic functional helmet, S. XV

Sallet-type Gothic functional helmet with a design inspired by the models used during the 15th century. The fully wearable, hand-forged gothic helmet offered here is made of 2mm thick steel and is therefore suitable for combat re-enactment. The one-piece bowl features a long neck guard and a small ridge or ridge running along its apex. It is equipped with an articulated face shield on steel rivets. When closed, the visor leaves approx. 1.5 cm wide and 17 cm long eye slit with an extended lower lip, ensuring sufficient vision and ventilation. The blackened interior is equipped with a riveted leather suspension liner (the neck protector is also lined with leather). The leather chin strap closes with a steel buckle.

The helmet known as the sallet replaced the bascinet in the 15th century. By mid-century, it had become one of the most widely used combat helmets in all of Europe. This type of helmet existed in many forms and variations, from simple to elaborate, open or visored, with a more or less pronounced tail, etc., and was especially popular in Italy (celata), Germany (Schaller), France ( salad) and England.
