Some interesting trivia about Aragorn's Narsil sword:
- The name 'Narsil' means 'white firelight' in Quenya, an Elvish language invented by Tolkien.
- Narsil was forged by the elven smith Telchar in the First Age of the Sun. It was given to Elendil, King of Arnor and Gondor, who used it to combat Sauron in the Last Alliance of Elves and Men.
- The sword was broken in two in battle when Elendil fell along with his son Isildur. The upper half of the sword, known as 'the fiery point', was recovered by Isildur and became a symbol of the kingship of the kings of Gondor.
- Aragorn, descendant of Isildur, recovered the broken sword and carried it with him during his fight against Sauron. The sword was reforged by the elves at Rivendell and given a new name: Andúril, which means 'Flame of the West' in Sindarin, another Elvish language invented by Tolkien.
- Andúril became a symbol of Aragorn's authority and was used by him in the War of the Ring to combat the enemies of Middle-earth.
- In the movie 'The Lord of the Rings', the sword Andúril was created from a replica of Boromir's sword, since the original replica of Narsil had been broken during filming.
- The Narsil/Andúril sword has inspired the creation of many toy replicas, decorative swords and collectibles for 'Lord of the Rings' fans.
