Medieval steel gorget of the Late Middle Ages (1.6 mm.)

Prepare for battle with the Medieval Steel Gorget for the Late Middle Ages (1.6 mm)! This wearable reconstruction of late medieval plate armor for the throat, chin and neck is made of 1.6 mm (16 gauge) steel and blackened on the inside for better corrosion resistance.

The bevor shows the typical multi-layered appearance of Gothic plate armor from the late Middle Ages (15th/16th centuries). While the throat and chin pieces are secured together by rivets, the upper sliding plate is hinged on rivets and can be raised or lowered. When raised, it reaches below the eyes and provides additional facial protection. It is reinforced at the top edge and a row of round cutouts ensure adequate ventilation. On the right side of the chin section, a small relief keeps the folding plate firmly in position when raised.

At the back, the bevor features a two-part, hinged neck guard that opens laterally and closes by hooking it onto the throat piece using a small pin. The front and back plates then form a complete gorget.
