José María Martins is the founder of Cuchillos Martins . He was born on May 31, 1930 in a humble family but rich in values. In 1954 he graduated as a blacksmith and returned to his homeland to dedicate himself to this noble profession. He began making cutlery items in his free time to combat the seasonality of blacksmithing. Over time, he dedicated himself exclusively to the cutlaria activity, created a production unit and gave his name to the brand, taking his items to the 4 corners of the world.

José María Martins died on April 7, 2016, leaving as a legacy the values that he had inherited from another era: simplicity, loyalty and coherence, which he also chose as the motto of his life. The Cutelaria Martins brand is the result of an ancestral activity with a history and culture typical of the Trás-os-Montes region, where its products are developed with selected materials and with know-how based on experience and traditional methods, that give them their unique identity.
