Viking round wooden shield to paint. The large Viking shield that we offer here is suitable for re-enactment of light combat, stage fighting or combat.

This battle-ready round shield is made from 3 layers of MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) wood and is covered on the front with heavy-duty, natural-colored canvas. The fabric is glued to the wood and left blank so you can customize the shield with your own colors or designs if you wish. With a little know-how and artistry, you can turn your blank shield into an authentic-looking Viking Age shield.

The edge of the shield is covered with rawhide. Considered more impact resistant and durable than tanned leather, rawhide absorbs shock significantly better and therefore will extend the life of the shield.

The generously sized shield hilt leaves ample space to accommodate even the strongest Viking hands and is held firmly in place with four nails.

The wooden shield is provided with three reinforcing strips of pine wood nailed to the back. The central one also acts as a handle and is rounded in the middle for a comfortable grip.
