This good value two-handed sword is a beautiful example of a late European Middle Ages and early Renaissance longsword. Although not a one-to-one replica of an original historical piece, it displays some of the typical features of two-handed swords wielded by 15th-century Gothic knights in full armour.
This type of ring-hilted longsword differs from others of the same period by its side rings placed on either side of the crosspiece (eventually leading to the development of more complex hilt designs). On medieval battlefields and tournaments, these rings provided much greater protection for the hands without greatly increasing the overall weight of the weapon.
