European Arming Sword, 14th century

The European Arming Sword, XIV century, is an authentic masterpiece that cannot be missing in the collection of all lovers of medieval history. This exquisitely detailed replica has been created to a superior quality, surpassing even the original sword.

Crafted by an expert swordsmith, the blade of this sword has been hand forged using 1080 high carbon steel, ensuring its strength and durability. In addition, the blade has been fully tempered and has a distal taper that allows a perfect distribution of weight, providing an incomparable balance.

The scabbard of the sword has been designed to replicate those used in the 14th century, with a wooden body that is elegantly covered in leather. For added protection, the tip of the scabbard features a strong brass ferrule, while at the mouth of the scabbard, leather extends up and covers part of the guard, adding a touch of authenticity.

In addition to its impressive appearance, this sword also stands out due to its unique pommel. To the naked eye it appears conventional, but turning the sword sideways reveals an unusual, tapered shape that sets it apart from any other sword. This very special design is inspired by a sword found in a peat bog, along with another now in Rome, which has been exceptionally well preserved.

The cross-shaped guard of this sword gently curves towards the blade and tapers before bulging out at the terminals, giving it a sophisticated and elegant look. On the other hand, its knob has very particular angles and faces that reinforce its unique character.

The hilt of the sword has been designed with the user's comfort in mind, sitting perfectly in the hand and providing a firm grip. The wide, straight blade, with a double-edged, flattened diamond cross section, features a narrow flute to reduce weight and ensure agile, precise handling. Additionally, it flares slightly where it meets the hilt, and the elegantly curved edges culminate in a sharp point, ideal for precise cuts and powerful thrusts.

As an added value, this sword includes a certificate of authenticity that ensures its quality and historical origin.

At that time it was common to carry one-handed swords as weapons to fight with a shield or buckler. They can be seen used with small shields in the famous Royal Armories fencing treatise Ms. I.33, as well as accompanying knights in full armor on numerous manuscripts and monuments. This sword could have been carried at the start of the Hundred Years War, and it features several very distinctive features.
