Two-handed swords of this type were increasingly used as specialized weapons in the second half of the 15th century, laying the foundation for the massive two-handed swords of the following century (such as the Swiss Zweihander and Landsknecht Flamberge). This sword would have been in use during the last years of the Hundred Years War and swords like this were carried throughout the Wars of the Roses and into the early Tudor era.
