The Shogun Tsuru Katana by Bushido is a piece of mastery hand-forged in the iconic village of Longquan in China's Zhejiang province, known for its historic sword-making tradition dating back over 2,000 years. With an overall length of 104cm, this katana is a combination of art and functionality in its purest form.
Each katana is crafted using centuries-old methods. The blade, forged from 1095 high-carbon steel, is specially clay-tempered, giving it a Rockwell hardness in the range of 45-48 HRC, with the most hardened edge in the range of 56-58 HRC. This ancient process creates the distinctive hamon, a visible line that reflects meticulous craftsmanship. Sharpened to the highest level, the blade can cut through a sheet of paper with ease, ensuring its effectiveness and quality.
The Shogun Tsuru Katana is distinguished by its ornamental details: the tsuba, collar and pommel feature the crane, a Japanese symbol of good fortune, longevity and peace. These elements, crafted from brass with an antique finish, add a touch of elegance and meaning to the katana. The hilt, made of genuine ray skin and wrapped in cord, provides a firm and comfortable grip.
The wooden scabbard, painted in glossy black, completes the design with a sophisticated finish. In addition, the katana comes with a cotton storage bag and a cleaning and maintenance kit in an elegant wooden box. The kit includes oil to protect the blade, a cloth for its application, rice paper to keep the blade free of dirt, uchiko to remove dust and a hammer to manipulate the mekugis.
The Shogun Tsuru Katana is not just a collector's item; it is a masterpiece of traditional forging that combines art, functionality and a historical legacy. Ideal for collectors and enthusiasts, it offers an enriching experience and a deep connection to the rich heritage of Chinese swords.
