Kappa (English 'River Child') refers to a mythical creature from Japanese mythology. It is a water sprite, drawing people into the waters and drowning them deep when they get close. According to legend, they should also have a weakness for cucumber. In its handcrafted decoration, this rare katana depicts a Kappa and an unsuspecting hiker. Underneath the beautiful colors you need to strongly emphasize the fuller, which starts about 10 cm above the tsuba.
