Galo Port Bei Nidau helmet, in steel

The Gallic Helmet model Port Bei Nidau, in steel, is an authentic jewel of antiquity. This helmet is a faithful reconstruction of the helmets used by the Gauls in the ports, and has articulated cheek pieces to offer greater protection. Constructed of high quality 1.2mm (18 gauge) steel, this helmet is strong and durable.

One of the most prominent features of this helmet is its distinctive neck guard, which is attached to the bowl with five round rivets. This guarantees additional protection in the neck area, offering greater security in combat. In addition, the inside of the helmet is not lined, but a padded cotton cap is included in delivery, which provides great comfort and makes the helmet fully wearable.

The Gallic Port Bei Nidau Helmet also features small rings on the inner side of the cheek plates. These rings make it easy to attach a chin strap, providing a secure and comfortable fit. Whether you're an ancient history buff, a lover of Celtic culture, or just a fan of vintage helmets, this helmet is one item you can't pass up.

With a weight of 1100 grams, this helmet is light enough to be used for long periods of time without causing discomfort. Its authentic and detailed design will make you feel like a true Gaul as you fight in the arena or recreate your favorite scenes from historical films.

This Celtic/Gallic helmet was inspired by surviving examples, of which the most prominent may be the Port bei Nidau iron helmet recovered largely intact from the River Thielle at Port (near Nidau, Switzerland) in the late 19th century. The original artifact, dating from the 1st century c. BC, is classified as a helmet from the late La Tène period (also known as La Tène III or La Tène D). The Port Type rudder has its roots in eastern Gaul. Typical features were the vaulted bowl, the protruding riveted neck guard, the raised eyebrows and cheekbones. Although this helmet is undoubtedly Celtic in origin and was worn by the Gauls, it is believed to have also been worn in the Roman ranks during Caesar's Gallic Wars (58-50 BC). This particular shape was ultimately adopted by the Romans, eventually evolving into the so-called Imperial Gallic Weisenau, the classic Roman legionary helmet as we know it.
