A Brigandine was the most common form of protection among commoners and nobility. On a 15th century battlefield, you'll find all different styles of brigantine, ranging from the most ordinary archer's brigantine to the most expensive and luxurious high-ranking nobleman's brigantine. A versatile form of protection that offers excellent mobility, a historic brig features clever construction. It was made of hundreds of small plates under a sturdy canvas or leather covering giving it its iconic look with all the rows of plates gracefully appearing on the outside. Not only did it look extremely distinguished, but it was also extremely comfortable, precisely because of the excellent mobility it allowed. All these parameters have supported the advantage of being able to use for long hours, which is something that all re-creators have respected and enjoyed for hours in battlegrounds and long events. A brig was also quite efficient in offering excellent protection, forming a perfect balance between almost no hindrance to movement and retaining a significant amount of protection. It was usually worn by a common soldier, with a haubergeon underneath or just a pair of mail sleeves, a skirt, and a limited amount of armor (all available separately). It was implemented by knights and men-at-arms, along with full plate armor for the limbs and the rest of the body. So if you want to recreate a 15th century foot soldier or 21st century men-at-arms, MAKE SURE OUR LEEDS BRIGANDINE IS THE BEST CHOICE POSSIBLE!
