The Golden Flower Tanto features an extraordinarily beautiful tsuba, which was undoubtedly made by a great master in the 18th century. Since they did not sign their work, unlike blacksmiths, the creators are not known by name. The tsuba was elaborately decorated with golden cherry blossoms (sakura). The cherry blossom is one of the most important symbols in Japanese culture. It represents beauty, awakening and transience.
The Tanto has a carbon steel blade forged by hand with a fine hamon line that has been tempered in the traditional way. In addition, the sheet was folded 12 times. This results in around 8000 layers and gives the sword a beautiful Damst structure. To reduce weight, the precisely sharpened blade was provided with a Bo-Hi (blood channel). The handle (tsuka) is made of wood, covered with real fish skin (same) and has two menukis.
The handle wrapper (Tsuka-Ito) is made of black cotton and is traditionally attached. The spike is particularly long and is attached to the handle with a bamboo pin (mekugi). The sheath (saya) is made of wood, the blade clamps (habaki) are made of brass. This goal was made according to museum templates. A certificate of authenticity is included. You will receive your sword in a high-quality collector's cloth and wooden case. All information is approximate.
