Umbo round Roman shield in brass (20 cm.)

Umbo for Roman shields but also for shields from any era. The umbo we offer you is the perfect accessory for ambitious re-enactors who want to build their own Roman shield. It is ideal for a parma, but can also be used on a scutum (note that the boss is not bent, so if it is going to be mounted on a curved shield, it must be adapted to the curvature of the shield before mounting).

This umbo is made of brass, blackened on the reverse, and has four pre-drilled holes to attach it to your shield. Screws with rounded brass heads are included.

The ledges on the shields were designed to deflect enemy blows and accommodate the grip on the shield. But apart from their practical function, in some cases they could also have an ornamental purpose.
