Viborg Viking tunic in olive green

The Viborg Viking Tunic in olive green is a faithful recreation based on an archaeological find from the 11th century. In 1984, during excavations in Viborg, Denmark, a bundle of cloth was discovered that turned out to be fragments of a tunic. Although only the back panel and sleeves were not completely intact, this allowed some freedom of interpretation in its reconstruction.

This tunic stands out for its complex and unique cut for the time. The upper part of the torso is made in two layers, both front and back, and features a central rectangle with diagonal seams. The collar is designed with two slits and adjustable drawstrings. The sleeves have a straight cut, with an additional piece in the armpit for greater comfort. In addition, the sleeves, made up of three pieces, taper towards the cuff. The side seams are open, and the back extends a few centimeters further than the front, partially covering the top opening.

Our cotton tunic is a detailed reconstruction of the medieval Viborg Tunic. We have paid special attention to the correct arrangement of the seams, the details and the appropriate proportions. To improve aesthetics, we have slightly lengthened the overall length of the torso and sleeves. This long-sleeved tunic ends at the thigh, and can be worn as both an outer and inner tunic. The fabric (100% cotton) is medium weight and has a double layer on the torso.
