Are you a lover of Viking culture? Do you love wearing unique pieces of jewelry with history? Then you cannot miss the opportunity to purchase the Wieland winged man pendant from Uppåkra. A true Viking jewel that will transport you to the 8th to 10th centuries!

This beautiful pendant is a detailed replica of the winged man from Uppåkra, probably representing Wieland the blacksmith in his feather coat. It is such a special piece that a 1 meter long solid leather cord is even included to show it off as it deserves.

The winged man was discovered in the late 1990s in a burial mound at the Iron Age settlement of Uppåkra, Skåne, Sweden. The original was made of gilt bronze and measured 7.5 x 4.5 cm. But don't worry about the size, we have reduced the replica to a more manageable dimensions of 4.8 x 3.4 cm, keeping all the details and charm of the original Viking jewel.

Size aside, Uppåkra's Wieland Winged Man Pendant is made of bronze, giving it a rugged, authentic look, perfect for accompanying you on all your Viking adventures. In addition, you can also choose the silver version if you prefer a different finish.

There is no doubt that the winged man is one of the most remarkable pieces of jewelry from the Viking Age. This unique bronze figure represents an apparently mythological being in the form of a feathered man in chain mail, arousing the curiosity and admiration of all who see it.

So don't wait any longer and add this impressive Uppåkra winged man Wieland pendant to your Viking jewelry collection. Let history and beauty come together in one piece!

There have been various attempts at interpretation for the winged man: In Norse mythology, swan clothing is recounted in various legends, giving its wearers superhuman strength. For example, Freya, the North German goddess of love, wears plumage with which she could glide through the air like a hawk. The more masculine attributes of the figure, however, point to Wieland the blacksmith, also Wiolant, Veland, Völundr or Welent gennat, who was able to escape from the captivity of King Nnung with the help of a feather coat. Perhaps, due to his shape-shifting ability, Odin could also be considered as a role model for the winged man.

Uppåkra was the largest Iron Age settlement in Skåne in southern Sweden, less than five kilometers south of Lund, where more than 20,000 finds were recovered. Uppåkra is supposed to be one of the most culturally and politically important centers of Skåne.

Uppåkra has been inhabited since the Stone Age and had its heyday between AD 400 and 1050, as evidenced by several spectacular finds from the settlement layer. Most of them date back to the Iron Age and the Viking Age. Uppåkra appears to have been an important political, economic and religious center and possibly the royal seat of one of the earliest Skåne kingdoms.
