Castilian knight of the 11th century, Don Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, called El Cid Campeador. Cid derives from the nickname given to him by the Moors: SIDI, the Lord; and Campeador, equivalent to fighter for the fields of Spain. He has a great story behind him as the greatest conqueror of his time between Moors and Christians.
He won two famous swords in battle, one of which is the colada/tizona that is faithfully reproduced here.
