The XXX Ulpia Victrix Legion was a Roman legion that was established in AD 101 by Emperor Trajan . The name 'Ulpia' was given in honor of the Ulpius gens, to which Trajan belonged, and 'Victrix' means 'victorious', reflecting the legion's reputation in Roman warfare.
The XXX Ulpia Victrix Legion participated in various military campaigns during the 2nd and 3rd centuries , including the conquest of Dacia in AD 106 and the Parthian War in AD 114-117. It was also used to maintain security in the Roman Empire, stationing itself in various provinces such as Britannia and Germania.
The legion was disbanded sometime in the 4th century , possibly during Emperor Diocletian's military reforms. However, his legacy has lived on in Roman military history.
