The Seven Deadly Sins were a group of seven knights, considered the strongest in the Great Britain region, each representing one of the seven deadly sins, due to a sin committed by them in the past. However, the group disbanded after apparently hatching a conspiracy to overthrow the kingdom of Lionesse, killing the then Great Holy Knight, Zaratras. His supposed defeat came at the hands of the Holy Knights of the kingdom. The seven were scattered and given a bounty, but as time passed, rumors began to circulate that these seven legendary warriors were actually still alive. Ten years later, the Holy Knights stage a coup capturing the king, thus becoming the new tyrannical rulers of the country.
