Francis Drake was a famous English privateer and sailor of the 16th century. He was born in the cove of a ship and was orphaned after a few years, being taken in by the skipper of a ship. Soon he acquired mastery of the sea and its dangers, dedicating himself to the risky overseas trade. In combat he was defeated by the Spanish, after which he swore revenge and dedicated his life to it by attacking and looting Spanish ships and goods from the New World.
He was the first English sailor to circumnavigate the world. And he was appointed Vice Admiral to attack the Spanish Invincible Armada.
