Sword that arises in the Renaissance in Spain to call a certain class of swords with straight and long blades. The real Spanish name of the rapier is Tizona. This sword is called a rapier because it was attached to clothing, used for fashion and as a personal defense weapon.

The maximum period of splendor of the rapier could be placed between 1525 and 1675, being replaced by the typical 18th century rapier of French origin.
