With the intention of settling in Durotar, the Horde of Thrall has expanded its ranks, inviting the outcasts undead to join Orcs, Tauren, and Trolls. Meanwhile, the dwarves, the gnomes and the ancient night elves gave their loyalty to the Alliance, led by the human kingdom of Stormwind. After King Varian Wrynn disappeared mysteriously, the Great Warrior Bolvar Domadraghi takes his place as regent but his service was influenced by the mind control of the black dragon Onyxia, who ruled in disguise as a noble woman human called Lady Katana Prestor. While the heroes were investigating the manipulation of Onyxia, the old lord of fire elemental Ragnaros re-emerged to threaten both the Horde and the Alliance. The heroes of both factions to unite and together defeat Onyxia, and send Ragnaros back to the Elemental Plane.
