Richard the Lionheart, King of England, was a benefactor of the Order of the Templars and a magnate of it, so much so that his personal escort was made up of Knights Templars and that at his death they say he was dressed in their habit. Richard was called the Lionheart at the start of the Third Crusade when Philip of France compared himself to a lamb and Richard to a lion. He convinced his officers in Winchester, around the 'round table', that he belonged to the legend of King Arthur and that he had the magical sword Excalibur. Ricardo was a generous gentleman and a prudent politician, but above all a great soldier. His own personal ability was a source of inspiration for his men in battle.
