Katana John Lee model Musashi Ichi forged by hand. It is a piece of Asian art with:

  • Blade forged in carbon steel and hardened by hand.
  • The sharp blade is ribbed to reduce weight.
  • The handle (Tsuka) is made of wood and covered with fish skin (Same)
  • The hilt is wrapped (Tsuka-ito) in traditional black cotton
  • The hilt (Tsuka) is anchored to the blade with bamboo pins (Mekugi)
  • The scabbard (Saya) is made of wood
  • The blade has a brass 'collar' (habaki) so that it does not move in the sheath
  • This sword was made following the originals of the museums

Miamoto Musashi (1584-1645) was one of the most imposing samurai in Japan, often called the greatest sword fighter of all time. He was a master artist and craftsman who founded his own tsuba making school, best known for the simple double oval tsuba.
