Tatami for cutting Tameshigiri (180x90 cm.)
Tatami (straw mat) for the traditional Japanese cutting of Tameshigiri (cutting test of a sword). Ideally, place it on a wooden support (NOT included).
In preparation for the cut tests, the mat should be rolled as tightly as possible, tied tightly, and soaked in water for a few hours to swell. The soaked roll should be allowed to dry completely (in a vertical position). This process will allow the mat to reach the density or consistency needed for cutting exercises. The finished rug can now be mounted on a tameshigiri stand for use.
